It is a pleasant thing to exist when one's country is celebrating 50 years of independence. the pleasant feeling is that there are people around you who existed by the time of idenpendence, you can easily identify with their hopes and fears before independence.

When I move around asking them about what they felt many people tell me that they did not even understand the meaning of what they were requesting. Some never understood the meaning of it all because they did not know what would happen and how it would. Some feared the unknown, the uncertainty and  of just like now, people are not sure what will happen in the second half of the century we will be starting on  1st Jully 2010.

But, when I look at all that has happened, I only get to understand that the people who existed before independence wished that we achieve more than what they had done. Not be independent only but they wanted us to be independent so that we could live free and open to the rest of the world. Until now, they are still urging us to build a better country than that they left us to inherit.

When we look back to what they left us, Congo's economy was equalling that of many other countries known now as world economic powers. And I believe that as we are still ranked among the most poor on this planet, we must admit that we have failed our ancestors who fought for independence.

I am launching a new initiative called: Twajenga Taifa Bora. this means, we are building a better country and that means we are doing it now. Not tomorrow or after tomorrow.

I am inviting all the friends of the Congo, the Clubs of friends of Mwema Ndungo, and all Congolese to participate in this new initiative.
